SEO – Search Engine Optimisation

SEO – Search Engine Optimisation

SEO – Search Engine Optimisation

I know that most of us can agree the internet has become a part of our daily life. When your customer thinks of something they need or they are looking for information they just set down at their computer and enter key words into the search box on Google, Yahoo, MSN and many other search engines. The top engines at this time are Google, Yahoo and MSN.

So how does a search work?? How were the sites on the list selected?? The answer is simple – a well designed website contains words and terms that will relate to the words or terms entered.

That does sound simple, but is it simple? Most of us have heard of “meta tags” – yes, they are still important but just as important is what you have written about you, your product or your business.

For your blog or website to have a good search ranking you will need to use “keywords” and “keyword phrases.” Search engines – robots – do not read images these bots can only see and record text,  they do not see context.

A few words about business blogs – if you have a website and you don’t have a business blog you should consider starting one. I will list just a few reasons.

  • A business blog will provide additional pages with information that will relate to your website providing other pages to be indexed. A business blog will increase traffic to your website.
  • A blog will add to your website’s “stickiness.” It will give people more reasons to return for updated articles and information.
  • A business blog will allow you to use new phrases to match user search requests as those posts act as entry points to your website and your business

Your blogs structure will do most of the work for you:

The great part about blog platforms is they are already designed in such a way to naturally help the search engines. Blogs are well organized and very – very structured, this is mostly because of the Categories and Archives formatting.  Another important point is that search engines are always looking for new information and if you have set up a time and day to post they will keep returning to record what has changed or been added.

So take a few minutes and consider adding a blog to your website. Yes, it will be more work but it will definitely be worth the time it takes.

Basic Blogging & Why

Basic Blogging & Why

Yes, that is what it says – why! I know you have several friends that have blogs – you know the ones that tell you what they did today and how big the kids are getting.  Well, believe it or not there are bigger and better reasons you might need a special “blog.” A blog that will highlight your business.

So, does a business blog do anything for a business?  Well, that depends on what it says and why.  As we all know blogs did start out as personal diaries and online journals, but blogging has evolved into a very serious business.

So Why:

  • Blogs help increase website traffic.
  • Blogs add to the “stickiness” factor.
  • A blog will help a website’s visibility and improve your Google placement.

The benefits of blogging for your business go far beyond the reach of search engine optimization – SEO.  So let’s get started!!  Read More…

How Long Do I Have

How Long Do I Have

Did you know that you have 10 to 15 seconds to get the attention of the people coming to your site or they will leave? Don’t make your visitors jump through hurdles – such as flash pages with a little music thrown in for good measure. A site that is hard to navigate or locks up your customers computer will cause your visitors to become frustrated and leave.

I know you want your website to be warm and inviting.  Just remember when that flash page comes up the door is closed.  Your visitors question is do they want to open it and look inside?  Wouldn’t it be better to have your site open up warm, friendly and interesting.

You think about it and you decide!!
